This could be a functionality change for device running higher Android Version and possible that particular feature has been removed from it ?
Though cannot be sure of it, let's see if anyone else is facing same issue.
Device should allow internet based location sharing on any app, however if any particular app requires a GPS based location, so this won't work due to hardware unavailability on the box and this won't allow you to enable the GPS function on standard Android settings menu.
You may need to try couple of different versions for the app to find out which one is still working on device. However, even if any works we cannot confirm how long that will last because the developers has stopped support.
Please note as Amazon Prime app may have limitation/restriction to be used on open source Android TV Box and developers of app will confirm more information for same, Alternatively, you may still try using an older version of Amazon prime app from app stores as apkpure and see if that works.
I would suggest to go with return if you see anything that will distract you from playing game is seen ( Red Spot, White Pixel )on the screen. And second not sure of best firmware to try for RS 97 Plus V1.3 and would rather recommend to stick with pre-installed unless you have any issues on it.

Please note there are some apps which are not supported on custom designed Android TV Boxes. However, you may check with app developer for more information if any such restrictions.
