T8SPlus is it worth updating

[Lost and very confused]

Hi,

I was given a T8Splus box from a friend as I don't have a smart tv and I wanted it to run Now TV and Disney + apps plus I might setup Kodi.
He has not used the box for a few years so it needs updating but I cannot get it to update I am having the below issues.
OTS Updates will not connect to server and I have tried force closing it and clearing the data
Droidbox market place just keep trying to load but nothing happens.
In the UPDATES&BACKUP option I get the message Check Failed!Check Your OTA Servier Argent
Can this box be updated via a SD card or usb memeory stick and is it worth updating?

T8S plus is an old box and the last firmware update was several years so it might already be as up to date as it can be. Certainly nothing later than android 6 will run on the processor. But you should be able to run most stuff on the google play store though and apply updates. Kodi 18 runs ok as well.
I have one and it works just fine after all these years.
Some apps have restrictions running on these types of boxes. I've a feeling that the disney app is one. Not sure about now tv. Certainly skysports app designers blocked use of a hdmi output to tv .

Thank you for the reply.
I was expecting as much but was hopeful, the Now TV works fine but as I cannot find the disney plus app in the store I'm guessing its too old to have it.
I might have to look at a new box as the main reason for this is for the now tv and disney as they keep stuttering when running via the websites which seems to a commen fault as netflix was doing it but that has a windows 10 app.

Note my comment about certsin apps (e.g. disney) not running on android set top boxes by design. So getting a new box might not be the solution you are looking for.

Some of the boxes show a picture of the app so some might but I will make sure I confirm they do before I buy one.

Please note there are some apps which are not supported on custom designed Android TV Boxes. However, you may check with app developer for more information if any such restrictions.
