Hello
I have purchased a X96 max plus from droidbox.
I would like to add an SSD drive to record and play tv programmes and films on an external USB 3 SSD drive.
Will an unpowered drive be OK or do I need a powered drive to attach to the USB 3 port on the box.
Many thanks in advance
Peter

We would highly suggest getting an independently powered one.

One that draws power from the box may cause issues as the included power supplies are generally only intended to support the box itself.

Thank you for your quick reply.
The power supply should support the USB ports,
So I assume a USB pen drive would be OK, would a SSD drive use more power than a pen drive?
Thanks in advance
Peter

A wd my passport ssd drive 1tb runs fine powered from the usb port only on android boxes, this is not a large hdd and doesn't need its own power supply to operate.
