On my x7 speed test app it says 1.0 Mb but when my movies where freezing before I knew about 0 cashe advanced xml I phoned EE and they did a test which said my speed had never dropped below 7.5 Mb so the app must be wrong.

Maybe a daft question but have you checked that the tv is set to the correct hdmi input. Best to start at the basics sometimes.

I use ethernet and I didn't need to put any passwords or ip address. Try a different cable but if you need ip address then if you have a wireless connection you could find it through that or tap on your mobile phone connection.
