I had this odd problem on my v2 too, the only way i fixed it was to remove the HDD from the box connect it to your pc and format it as NTFS or you can try EXfat. do not format it in android v6, it did odd things to my SSD.
A android box will run faster for you and cooler, and you will probably get less buffering with a android box, i recommend a Droidbox.

sounds like the dhcp on your router is not picking the box up maybe, try and set a static ip in your router forward it to your box. remember set the static ip outside the dhcp ip pool.
some addons you can go into the addon settings and set the view only for that addon. i know kodi v17 you can set it up like you wish and it will stay like that.
