You can also experiment with disabling autostart of features you never use, but only disable 3rd party apps (not system ones) unless you're comfy with the recovery menu.

The one thing to consider with using an app as a launcher, is if SPMC ever stops launching properly, do you have a way to clear the app's data before your device attempts to use SPMC as a launcher? You may be able to push over a new config via ADB, assuming you have a micro USB cable, the ADB drivers (rather than bootloader drivers for firmware flashing) and a few spare minutes to learn the basics.

The launcher version of spmc is shown when you first switch it on and you are asked to pick from either droidbox launch or android launch

If you're clicking on Just Once each time, rather than Always, than SPMC crashing won't be a problem. I think the SPMC site itself now offers the non-launcher version as a default download.

Yes SS that is correct. It does offer both launcher and no launcher on their site.
