I've gone into the xbmc settings and configured iptv. But where in xbmc do I now go to actually play those specific streams?

Which IPTV addon did you configure. If it is the PVR simple client then you need to make sure that you have enabled liveTV in your xbmc system setting.
There is also an addon that you can enable called Playlist Load, so that when the list is configured in to the addon correctly they will stream right through it.

Yep it's the iptv pvr simple client. I set this up using remote urls I found on the net but only seems to give me the option to view in an "unwizarded" version of xbmc when I can select video then pvr
Which playlist (the remote URLs) have you set, when you configured the Simple client? If you see vdubt25's old ones in there (I think they had bit.ly and an xbmc-based URLs) then those can be dropped. Unless he changed his mind, he swapped from a playlist in the IPTV client to his own add-on instead.
