I recently got a cheap t95 ( s905x, 1 GB running android 6.0.1) box and had issues with it crashing kodi. this happens frequently, 2 or 3 times an hour while on kodi. i have installed 3 or 4 different builds to see if that was the issue, uninstalled and reinstalled kodi, and factory reset the box and re installed kodi and it still does it. this has happened since getting the box. (not something new). I also have 2 other android boxes and a android/pc box and they work fine. any ideas? can you completely wipe the box and reinstall android, do i need to update the box? it is only a month old.

Factory reset is about the best you can do and you've done that. The box may be running short of memory. Advice given on this forum includes clearing kodi cache, deleting temp files, deleting unused android apps, deleting any media files downloaded to the box. When applying a build use one of the "lite" ones like wookie lite with a subset of more popular addons. Or just add manually the dozen or so addons you really use. Ensure you load one of the kodi maintenance tools (xunity maintenance, tvaddons or ares. Droidbox also have a maintenance tool but as you dont have a droidbox it may not be compatible).

I'd definitely test the system with factory reset, uninstall the pre-installed Kodi if present, grab Kodi from the Play Store or kodi.tv website.
Install JUST two or three video add-ons manually. If these add-ons don't lead to Kodi restarting, expand to the add-ons you normally use. If that works, leave the Wizards well alone.

Thanks for the help but...its still not working.
I uninstalled all android apps including kodi. reinstalled kodi and a vpn app from the play store. started kodi up and added 1 video addon.
20mins in to playing a film and it crashed kodi. it has even crashed kodi, while just browsing menus and not even playing any video. Think i must have a duff box!
although it did feel like it was a ram/ memory problem. my "clean Memory" icon seems to sit at over 50% almost constantly.

As you've done everything recommended, sounds like it is time to contact the box seller for support.
If you are after a cheap but reliable second box take a look at the droidbox imxq pro. Plus you will get proper support and help from droidbox users on this forum (hopefully you've seen some of that)

One thing to bear in mind (of the memory usage, rather than the fault) is that 50% usage is OK... Android clears out memory automatically, and unused RAM is seen as wasted RAM even more when looking at the Android OS.

This doesn't address the stability problems, but wanted to make sure there wasn't a concrete connection between the two in your head. Has the T95 seller offered any guidance to the stability problem?

Follow the above advice Mark and see if it helps you. If that fails then that is the limit of what you can do as a user and you will need to refer to the box supplier.

Sometimes more expensive boxes' memory can fill up with crap (technical term) so keeping on top of cache by clearing down can help (refer to the maintenance utilities above).
Another cause is not exiting kodi properly using the exit button.
