I recently bought this box and activated IPVanish which autostarts via app. Not sure why but frequently the box boots up to the main screen but freezes that nothing but a new start helps. Is this related to the VPN starting with box boot up or is the box somehow defect?

I was running the box for 2 weeks without and had no issues...but the point is to autostart the VPN service. Or what do you guys do to start VPN by default?

Mine does this and I do not use ipvanish.

It boots up then freezes only button on remote that works is power. Once restarted it's fine.

i get the same, but i use libreelec so it dont affect me to much. when boot into android the box locks up only the power on remote works. am sure a firmware update will fix it in time. I have done several factory resets and still getting the problem. and re flashed firmware v1.1.4

My ver 2 is the same. intermittent freeze on boot up. It must be a software glitch with this new version.

@ChrisM done. but its still locking up at boot up on the android side. I will test some more.

Just received mine 2 weeks ago. I've also noticed the "home screen" lockups. If I leave it on the home screen for any extended period of time I have to remove power to fix it. Pressing the power button on the front does nothing but reboot into the same locked up state. If I leave it on some other app for hours or overnight I have no issue. I've installed no other apps or IPVanish on the box. Love the box, just wish it wouldn't lockup when left unattended.

This seams to be a common problem. Even if I do a clear cache startup, on times it will take two or three boot ups. But finding what causes this avails me. I can have a few days with no problems, then it starts again.

Like other people, I like the product but wish these bugs could be sorted out.

I had the same problem at first when using the i9 Mini Keyboard, but no problem with the VIP Remote. I switched them back and forth and it would hang only using the i9 remote on boot, requiring a power down and restart. Now I only use the VIP Remote in Android but both work fine in LibreELEC 8.01...

If we can show that a 3rd party launcher (something like Nova or Google's, see https://play.google.com/store/apps/...?clp=ggEKCghsYXVuY2hlcg==:S:ANO1ljI61H8&hl=en ) prevents these issues from arising, we'll have something concrete to pass to the coders. Once the launcher is installed, press the home button and you should be asked which launcher you want to use.

I've been running 'Nova' for about a month and get exactly the same issues. Sometimes requires two or three power off's from remote to get box up and running properly. Had the same issue with standard DroidBox launcher.

Can you head to the Settings area on your DroidBOX, and look for any entries related to the power button. Try flipping to the other option there, if it is present.
Also, can you look for HDMI CEC in the Settings area and try turning it off please.

OK. Switched from 'suspend and resume' to 'shutdown' and CEC Control from 'on' to 'off'. Will try for a few days and report back.

Tried this over a few days and there's no improvement. Still have exactly the same startup issues.

I got my DroidBOX from Amazon UK so I'll search out the order number and attach a delivery note if that's OK.
I have an SD card I can use for the process. I guess a full wipe and reset will be needed to do a reflash so is it possible to save the full config of the box including apps and all? I did a full reset when I went to the current version and had to start from scratch.
