ssh failing

I don't seem to be able to connect by ssh. keep getting connection refused. any ideas? my box and laptop are connected via a hotels wifi but I can ping it ok

trying to fix the usb mounting or it has been a waste bringing this thing half way round the globe with me

Which username and password are you using, which SSH client, standard port #?
Depending on which firmware version you have installed, the user/pwd could be

root
letmein

There is a slim chance that the hotel block non-standard ports, but hopefully not.

I am trying root/letmein but I don't even get that far with putty. with winscp I have tried with those details but still no joy. port 22

Do you know which firmware is in place on your iMX6? If you haven't flashed one yourself, can you let me know the purchase date, and I'll check with the dispatch team which firmware was used around then.

Do you get an error when trying to connect? As in no response at all, user/pwd rejected etc etc.

Are you using another Android device for the SSH client? Ah, ooops, it being WinSCP I'll assume it is a laptop. Try connecting directly to the iMX6 with a network cable, rather than via WiFi, that way if the hotel is blocking port 22, it won't matter. You'll need to specify the IP address manually at both ends (laptop and iMX6) as no router is involved.
Choose whatever you like, but something like 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.1.3 (obviously with a subnet of 255.255.255.0) is easy enough to remember.
