Sound from on both device and headphones from av port

Hi,
Any ideas why sound comes from the android box and headphones when connecting (wired) headphones into av port? Nothing obvious in droid settings or main settings.

Switched to optical port and connected a dac to it and can now use wired headphones via dac. Av port was the wrong port to use.
