Another great little app I have come across.. Bionic TCP, it increases the default TCP buffers on all (rooted ) android devices. Very easy to install and use. Download from the play store install and run. Please be aware that this app is not a terminate and stay resident app, you will need to run it each time you reboot your device.
Once loaded click on the large TCP buffer icon and that's it, you will see your buffer size increase and notice a considerable reduction in buffering/stuttering etc. As is always the case, the stream you use will only ever be as good as the source sending it. so don't expect every single stream to be buffer free.

I suggest as a little experiment.. run speed checker before and after and post your results in this thread..

ISP : Virgin 154mb
Before: 24mb
After: 47mb

usual disclaimer..
This app is in no way affiliated with Droidbox so please do not expect support or complain about it..

cheers
Tony

It is.. but I got to ask why do you only re-boot ( turn on/off ) a couple of times a year?? I would recommend you reboot on a daily basis just to clear the cache also I tend to unplug mine every night at the end of the day these are cheap Chinese boxes and as such I would not recommend leaving it plugged in and on 365 days a year...

I was advised when i boughtvthe box never to power off. If you reboot daily does the cache clear itself ? Or have you a set routine when you reboot tony ? Also i would say in my defence , the amount of gear , wires etc i would have to move every night to try and un plug the box its not practicable.

Ok downloaded this app , how do you " run " it ? Theres a refresh option thats all i see ?
When i clik on the icon it says " root access denied " The buffer icon is in android apps not in xbmc thats correct is it ?

Googling the above scenario i find that i have to root my device to allow the app access ?
Not worth the risk surely ?
Ahh just noticed you put all ROOTED android devices , duh wish i!d spotted that first .
All the advice online is that rooting a device is asking for trouble.

what box do you have? as it should be rooted by default. once d/loaded you just run it like any other app.. there should be 3 icons you can select "large TCP Buffers" "Default TCP Buffers" and "Refresh". If you are getting "root access denied" it means your box hasn't been rooted and this app will not run.. as regards the cache, If you power off your box all temp cache files are deleted and memory is freed up.. if you cant power off every day then I suggest you use a cache/mem cleaner I use CCleaner
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.piriform.ccleaner&hl=en_GB only because I have used it on my PC for donkeys years and it does exactly what it says on the tin.. oh and these are android apps not plugins for XBMC

Works like a charm Tony, more than doubled my download speed and minimised any glitches that were present before. Great find :):):):):):):):):):):)

As far as I was aware all T8's were rooted... might be best to ask in the T8 thread or drop tech support a quick email as you may need a firmware update.

Some models now come non-rooted. We have people complaining that some apps wouldn't work if the device was rooted. We can supply a link and instructions to root your T8. It isn't our process or file though, so we can't make any promises about it. FWIW, I've used it on 2 devices without an issue.

Hi SS , I would appreciate it if you would post a link to the. Root method , typing root in the search box isn't enough to bring it up.
Thanks.

Somewhere over the rainbow
Have you tried turn the RSS feed off on the bottom of the screen. Go to system, Appearence and un-highlight the
Show RSS news feeds.
Also go to system, video and then Acceleration, then go to Decoding method and set to Hardware accelerated. Then highlight all underneath.
Also clear your cache, go out of xbmc, then setting, more setting, and storage look for cache data and clear.
