Posting this on behalf of Nick, who contacted our support team today.

Hi Andrew,
I'd noticed that playback of video (m4v) was fine under android, but
crashes under openelec after less than 5 mins playback (from HDD or off a
USB stick) requiring a power cycle. I haven’t tried other formats.

I turned off all the services in kodi/openelec which made no difference,
and then turned off the amcodec acceleration under video settings /
Acceleration . This seems to prevent the freezing, but haven't checked
yet for implications of doing this.

Any comments on this? Is there a known issue. Do I need to send in any
logs?

In kodi under android, all 3 hw accelerations are enabled, so seems like an
openelec problem.

Regards, Nick

The log file can be accessed through Mega - https://mega.nz/#!uEtUXDZR!2a2KfK64whyDwfgRZX4-UIYlkKWLC7GFdRs5SIHQUIc

Nick, I have informed our support team and they will check the log file and let you know about the outcome.
meanwhile can we ask you to share the link for the media file you were using when OpenELEC crashed?

Hi, there is no link to share as I was playing a local file. I have just tried a mad max trailer from HDtrailers.net and that crashed the box in exactly the same way within a minute or so.
The link to that is http://videos.hd-trailers.net/MadMax-FuryRoad_TLR-2-720p-HDTN.mp4

When it crashes the image freezes and I get what sounds like the last half second of audio continuously repeating. Only way out is a power cycle. Can't ssh in when this happens.

I can play the above link fine with the amcodec disabled...
And if I switch to kodi under android, it plays fine with amcodec enabled.

Hello,
Can you please try to Reset OpenELEC to defaults and then play the video without any Add-on or Wizard installed on OpenELEC and see if that works fine.

Regards.
