Probably more of a reflection that people haven't bothered much with 4K yet. Some of us are still getting to grips with 1080p and most streams are 720.

Was this with locally (or LAN) stored 4K video files, or online sources?
MX Player (as an example) or within Kodi?
If Kodi, let me know the version you have installed, the add-ons used and the exact entries clicked on, I'll try to replicate this end.
If you could also let us know the make and model of your 4K TV we can check for any other recorded instances.
Finally, have you tried different the different 4K modes (refresh rates) in Android's Settings? You may find that turning off auto-select and trying different 4K modes is enough to sort the issue.

I have a Samsung series 9 UE55js9000. I have turned off auto-select and set it at either 4k2k-30kz, or 4k2k-25, or 4k2k-24 and after running kodi I find it has reset back to 108op.

Thanks to both for the information, I'll try and drag the kids away from our 4K screen over the weekend and test what happens. If switching does not occur, Auto is definitely turned off? Tried from the More Setting button as well?

Hope to get results of testing up today. Had some ideas of things to try changing, as couldn't get 4K mode to flip back to 1080 without permission. Sony 2015 I think 4K model, will grab fuller details and post up properly.

OK, rough notes up, otherwise it'll take forever...

If a Wizard was used, which one, and which pack?

Fixes:
Auto switch DEFINITELY turned off in Android's settings?

Kodi and DBMC's display rate auto-change , not resolution I appreciate, but try flipping from current state to opposite. System (click), Video, Playback

Wiped Kodi/DBMC data and reloaded add-ons?

Tried OTA Update from last weekend, with latest 16.1 Stable (Kodi) and 16.2-1 (DBMC) to see if behaviour remains the same.

AdvancedSettings.xml If you can navigate to /Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi/userdata after a reboot, before opening Kodi (need to check path is correct and find DBMC's to quote), rename the XML file to a new name. Open Kodi/DBMC, see if 4K 1080 switching occurs still . ES File Explorer/File Manager HD/preferred app is fine.

If you set to 1080p in Android, then play a 4K video in Kodi/DBMC, does the reverse behaviour happen?
