First weather widget packs up, now time/date has gone same way. Any ideas? Always worked. This box is definitely an experience..

After Setting the Date and Time in settings, Keep it to Auto Update and see how that works.

Why does it go back as far as 1970 anyhow? Electricity wasn`t invented then was it? I had same problem with the 1993 thing, so couldnt even put the right date in manually! Another thing that needs to be sorted by DB. The list is growing. Mine started syncing the next day for some reason..

I believe "1970" is an android bug.
Type this into a search engine "android 1970 bug". How it shows itself or how it gets fixed i don't know. Maybe something in the responses helps?

1970 = Year 0 in Unix (so including linux, Android) terms.

All dates after that are expressed (might even be in seconds, rather than days/hours!) with a large number that computers can work with easily. Just before time/date info like that is displayed to a user, it is converted back to a date in plain English.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_time for some background reading on the topic.

@NikoB Feel free to send on the list to [email protected] , it may be some of them have been fixed, or the reason behind the issue is something we can't directly control (for example the weather forecast) as it is controlled by 3rd parties.

@SilentlyScreaming : thanks for your concern. Here are my main bugs..
1. The HDD keeps disappearing and reappearing at random
2. The weather widget is now defunct. Can you remove it from home screen?
3. The Bluetooth doesn't remember the devices you pair with it for more than a few hours.
4. Still doesn't power off correctly, just reboots instead (meant to be fixed on my particular machine).
5. Has trouble syncing time. Can't set it manually because it doesn't go later than 1993. Can't use browser without correct date.

Thanks for looking..

@NikoB
1 - We're trialing a new fix for this. Not everyone seems to get this issue, but for those that do, if this fix works, we'll roll it out to those effected. (We got your e-mail by the way)
2 - Yes it is, see https://droidbox.co.uk/blog/whether-weather-will-work/ for some background. Can't be removed from the launcher, however if you prefer you can install a different launcher, something like Nova, Go Launcher or even Google's own launcher, then add a Weather widget (both can be grabbed from the Play Store).
3 - Does this occur with any Bluetooth devices you pair, or just certain types (for example bluetooth speaker, phone/tablet, headsets etc)? The devices that are lost (in terms of pairing), are they paired with any other gadgets?
4 - Using the original infrared remote control or the power button on the front, does it still reboot? If you've a VIP remote control, you can teach one of the buttons at the bottom to mimic the original infrared remote's power button function.
5 - Has anyone suggested seeing if the ClockSync app helps, over at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.org.amip.ClockSync&hl=en_GB ? If you're around the device at all during weekdays, would you be able to get to our live text chat on the main website before 6pm? Would like to take a remote look if possible via QuickSupport.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

1. Good news. Will it be an OTA update?
2. I love the simple Launcher to be honest. Guess I'll have to put up with it. Just looks a bit incomplete now (OCD).
3. I've paired the Gampad (your own), and my phone. Both lose pairing within 24 hours. Have to re-pair virtually every time I use them.
4. I've only got the original ir remote that came with it. 8 times out if 10, when I press power button to switch off, it just reboots. Software power off does the same thing as does front button. I was told this issue was fixed before purchase. Nope.
5. Not tried any app. This problem doesn't happen every time, just be nice if it was fixed.

Thanks for looking again, if I get 5 I'll open it up for remote access. It does it straight from hard reset though, so I doubt you'll see any problem you'll be able to fix..

1 Different lead internally, not software
2 Understood totally. Old joke, but CDO would have been such a kinder way to state the acronym when they first started using it!
3 Can you send us an e-mail specifically on this point, and include the make/model of your phone please. Would like to get this resolved, but not sure yet what triggers it on your device.
4 Can you send a separate e-mail on this point and put "FAO Chris and David" in the subject somewhere. A link back to this thread would help.
5 Who is your ISP? We had an Irish ISP blocking (and pretending not to) some NTP (time) servers previously.

My T8-S plus does exactly the same.
The time keeps reverting to 1970, not every day but a few times a week and it reboots a lot instead of shutting down.

Bluetooth doesn't work at all and I've lost the download folder in apps after the box froze when rebooting from open-elec back to Android and it factory re-set itself.

Got round that by using ES file explorer.

Regarding the bluetooth, send us an e-mail with your order number and we'll get that sorted.
The shortcut to the Downloads folder isn't in the firmware on my device right now, but yes ES File Explorer/File Manager HD/File Browser/your preferred file explorer will get you there.

This thread's address and your forum ID would help, thanks. I'd send the e-mail when convenient, if we do need to look at the device the offer won't be withdrawn if you're unable to send for a few days, don't worry!

@SilentlyScreaming Think i have got it wrong on point 4, seems to shut down when pressing the button on the actual machine. It never displays the "shutting down" box on screen though.. Just switches straight off..Cheers..

Ignore the above.. Its random. Sometimes there is no response whatsoever when you press switch on machine..

mt time wont sync and date has now gone back to 1970 and cant set later than 1993,glad its not just me having problems
Try adjusting the time manually in Settings>Other >More Settings> date and time and once you have set the date and time. Now tick check the Auto update date and time setting in there.
