Newbie please help ?

Can anybody please help ? I received my new t8s box yesterday and i am really impressed with how fast and slicker it is compared to my old dual core mx box .I have the box hooked up via hdmi to my 70 inch lg tv .When i go into settings on the first screen that you come to after booting up ,the box is saying 720p 50hz . how do i change this to a better resolution there is just a toggle switch that turns hdmi autodetect on or off ?
I have also hooked my sound bar up to the optical port on the back and cant get any sound coming through .Any advice would be much appreciated

On the main menu go to the two cogs, here you should find setting for all pic and sound. Also in Kodi there's some pic and sound settings in system then system and video output then back one and then Audio output. Enjoy your T8s

When you are in setting make sure your setting level is on Expert. It should be bottom lift corner cans click on it to change it.

Thanks for your reply , I can see on the android bit you can't change and there is no option , am I missing something ? Also in kodi I found the expert bit but where it says resolution it is greyed out, ill upload some screen shots tomorrow

If its greyed out that means the picture adjustment is in the settings part. I have not got this box(I have the T8), so not sure at this time. I am thinking of getting one, but don't think you can wait that long. I will try and find out for you.....

Lol, thanks mate .I'm completely lost , i really want to hook up the sound bar , surely if it's got an optical output then it must work ?

Yes, need to go to system, system and Audio output and check here its set to optical. The other way is when you watch something click ok on the remote then go to the speaker icon. Here you can change things to. There's also a film reel icon to make picture adjustments to.

On the display you should be able to click here and adjust the HDMI output. Also further down and click on display position and make sure its set.
Now go to other and then more setting and check for picture and Audio here too.

Hi for your HDMI settings click hdmi auto-detection to off.then move down to hdmi output mode 720p-6o click on it the rest will pop up.hope this helps

Sorted , your an absolute star , just the optical out to sort now there is no setting in digital audio out for optical just pcm
SpdIf pass through and hdmi pass through

Try the SpdIf passthrough and set it to 2.1, witch sort your picture was it the adjustment in HDMi output setting.

Also go into advanced (pic above)and there's more setting there for sound.

can someone tell me some of the advantages of getting a droidbox instead of using my laptop or phone and casting it to the tv?

I did this and it was a pain setting audio up and other things. Where the droidbox is always there and ready to go. I have Kodi isengard 15.0 beta on my laptop and helix 14.2 in my hudl 2 and also have a T8 witch is great and a imx6 MCE.

can you add addon channels that are not already on the box? what about updates? will have to send the box back?

Yes there are loads, totalxbmc and superrepo have every add-on and program's. There's also more go on YouTube and see. All the add-ons like on you laptop get updated. There also Showbox and loads more apps to use, all get updated.
The only time you need to send the box back is if it needs a firmwire update. Witch you only Pay for postage for now, but if you get the T8s thats not going to happen for a while if ever.

I'm looking at getting the T8s too. It has two Kodi helix 14.2 one android and the other a open elc Linux biuld, plus all the apps and droidbox share,so you can share with any android phone or tablet (see the main site for more info).
