Help l
This is the 2nd unit I have received the first came with UK power supply From day one it rebooted every time you did anything after 2 weeks I was able to convince Droidbox I needed a power supply
For the US
I ended up sending it back got one with us power supply no more rebooting
I really like it its a T 8 V2
Everything worked great setup no problems
Now it is dropping the internet for no reason and it has a life of its on
If I leave it overnight it works better the first hour or more and then it starts
I shut it down and wait 5 mins and it will work for a little while and then it drops it and freezes
I am not a newbie but this is the first unit I have brought with all the bells
So I am a newbie now
I have 3 kodis one is with liber elec it has 16.1 then another one that is 16.6 and last 17.1
So this is all new to me
I have been able to load Ares on 17.1 and it works great for 30 mins and there goes my internet
Its not low signal
I have other units that work fine plus when it is working its showing 14 mb download 1.5 upload
I think it must be a setting somewhere
Like I said I love it I just want it to work
Is it that all the bugs are not worked out or something else
One thing I noticed the longer I let it set the longer it works when I boot up
If I don't wait it just will not connect and freezes
Any help would be great just remember all my other units where lower end but good units not cheap ones -
Be gentle I do know how to flash and most other basic setting
Maybe I am not smart enough to understand the layout of this unit
Thanks everyone in advance

Ok step by step, problem by problem slow easy list of everything that you have done!

I am a repair tec we have to do lists software, hardware, what hardware etc or else the results are confusing and useless! The doctor makes 4 med changes instead of just one which one is giving you the side effects

My typing skills suck but read my post https://droidboxforums.com/threads/security-vpns-firewalls-viruses-etc.9575/ i lay out the basic facts about wireless Internet access and hard wired Internet access and sites with facts about it not just my opinions!

Wireless Internet access is worthless for streaming video! Does it work yes I even have the bedroom box wireless BUT it's a backup box the wife's crap I won't watch box!

The main box my droidbox t8s plus v2 hardwired to the hub fast reliable and solid. There's allot of things that can be causing the problems we have to sort them out one by one then be able to tell you if you need droidbox support!

I had a problem in LibraELEC with intermittent signal drop out on a LAN (wired) connection. I also use a vpn.

I sent it back to DroidBOX who couldn't find a fault wireless, however wired it disconnected after a while and wouldn't play any more videos.

They noticed i was using VPN Manager with the Open VPN addon that I set to auto connect to my VPN Provider (Nord VPN). When they disconnected my VPN connection everything was fine again.

It was surmised that the problem either lay with the Open VPN addon, or my VPN Server being over capacity/off line.

I think it could be the Open VPN addon rather than the server, as this only occurred in LibraELEC and not android (although I have no hard proof of this).

Since I have received my V2 back, I only use it in android now and have no problems at all. Primarily because in android I use the VPN app and not a Kodi VPN connection.

Further more, in LibraELEC i also tried my IP Vanish VPN connection within VPN Manager (Open VPN), and this was disconnecting as well.

Thus as I have stated, now I only use android as I know this works with my VPN flawlessly. I still think that LibraELEC has issues/bugs. Until I am confident that they have been eliminated, I wont use it.

I am aware that other users don't seem to have an issue in LibraELEC, so I haven't made a fuss.

If this is similar to your problems I would like to know, as at the moment I haven't herd of any other complaints of this issue.

Like you, this was prevalent on two different T8-S Plus V2 boxes that I received.

Well I no longer am using IP Vanish because most of my problems I believe started there The fist thing I did was get rid of the malware I had 3 of them
I used the 360 program out of the play store Can you guys tell me what I should use I only used it because I have it on my tablet and it has worked so far
Next I scanned my internet to see how many people where close to me I found 14 using wireless and 2 had their printers on without any sercurity at all
So I called my ISP and lied said my Netflix was dropping and got him to move me to another line, channel, that didn't have all the people around here on it Well that's what he said he also found some setting that was wrong plus he boosted it he said
Well guess what things started working AND THEN I DECIDED TO USE LIBERELEC and things started going downhill again I tried to load a build off off Ares pulse its has always been fine on other units but once I finished it what I had was half a build I think anyway it didn't work right
So I believed I had it all together and now knew how to set it up right so I did a reset of course I didn't realized that when I rebooted back to android it dropped the Internet
So it resets to libelec I got to home and tried again
Guess what I am updating everything and of course its dropping the Internet again but I am almost done I plan to run a clean up again forget libelec and see if I can get the 17.1 to work maybe I will use the play store app to load wookie or tried Ares again
So if you can let me know what program to use to protect me or any other advice let me know I also plan to turn off Bluetooth and the VPN
If all goes well I shaLL let you know ;)

I'm a malwarebytes tec bench tec so I recommend that you use them. But more than being one of there tecs they have the best software and apps and keep buying smaller companies not takeovers but simple buy out that's a important factor to me. Also dr web is really good,

As far as tv boxes I'm still learning more about them the main problem on them is the 3rd party software and it's reporting or spying or something like that that some wizards turn off

But android there's no really good product to protect it BUT allot of the protection for android comes from the network settings after the network settings it's the box, the tablet, phone etc settings what's turned on or off!

Again not trying to promote my own posts but I cover allot of android security in the vpn post. How you should cover the camera on all devices computers phones tabs be aware that the phones can be used to record you

Like in the on star gm scandal on star was recording people in their cars without ever pushing the onstar button at times even tracking records!
We have to be aware of this type of stuff. Not terrified or paranoid but aware and alert.

The most current threat trump is trying to make it legal to sell all of your online search and other information about what you do! Not bank account or other information about you but the personal crap your ISP currently can see that the government can see.
Stuff right now most people can't see

I made the vpn post to educate the forum about security and privacy that I get weekly! I can't discuss or disclose everything but I want enough to make people aware of what's happening and steps to take

I get weekly even daily emails webinars etc special forums and I hate seeing people missing out on the vital information about security.

It's really confusing to hear feedback regarding vpn issues running on different platforms.
I recently purchased a new T8-V2 and have PRIVATE INTERNET ACCESS vpn installed using vpn manager in kodi settings on libreelec and also android side.
In my particular scenario, I connect fine to vpn on libreelec but will not let me on android side which is running Kodi Krypton 17.1( not supported on this platform error message)
I have downloaded PRIVATE INTERNET ACCESS app from playstore and it connects fine to vpn when browsing internet.

That's what happens when you use software over routers. Routers change the source, software trys to reroute the source causing speed issues, errors, heavy ram issues etc it's a hard choice to make for some people.

Right now I don't have one should but I don't! That's why I refer all of the above problems to users like @Fritz-69 who have been using them and know the tricks of forcing them to behave there like a kid smack them around and they behave:eek:

Security is never easy. Over reliance upon technology is becoming very very easy now days. I will have to start doing more vpn research

OK I knew that there are some really smart people , kids, overseas and 3rd world country's that have nothing to do but learn how to work the system with PCs and the internet
I learned this in my younger years in the Bahamas
I without admiting anything was at one point helping in a big way Some friends there to get sat TV over there
Its was only a 45 min boat ride
The plus side was I lived like a king They are some of the best people in the world and believe me when I say its a great place
It was over there I learned very fast no matter what
they live to learn and computers and phones is what they mastered
Most people think drugs but its the gray areas they work
Even at that time if caught taking something in they took it or you paid taxes or someone to get your equipment back
Now back to my problems
OK my unit is up and running now But I will get halfway thru a movie and lose. the internet But I am making progress and am learning

Thanks everyone for your help I will keep posting anything I learn or need help with!!!!!
Again thanks everyone and all the best

How is your Internet connected? Have you run any speed tests on it?

A speed test and like you are having reliability trails are the only true ways to make a decision between wireless network or wired.
Just like so many subjects out there are opinions and facts about both sides but the only way to tell is trial and error!

Now me i have dsl 24mb speed tests indicate 20 something megs fluctuating wired at my droidbox, 10 something fluctuating wireless for the bedroom mxq box but the mxq has the Internet limiter on to keep it below 10mg which its doing!
Now that sounds maxed out But dsl is dedicated if I started using realdebrid my sources would be more reliable and I still have plenty left for tablets pcs etc unlike broad band where you are sharing your load with neighbors or me it was the town dsl is my dedicated line

I have always wanted to use vpn play with it etc. But never got around to getting one, being a security tec specialist over 20 years of using torrents, torrent software etc and never having any problems despite knowing the huge risk and threats that behavior poses. Way over 20 years of just firewalls, peerblock, and software precautions and just knowing what to not click on or use or even try on those sites.

It's never been a huge priority for me, and until I got into these TV boxes and helping people more than just general knowledge wasn't necessary.
The last 5 years of having to relearn everything from scratch because I grew up on dos, windows etc i hated Linux! Now everything is android or libreelec etc all Linux core it's a royal pain, but been very very fun I love technology and I love learning more about it i may not like it or want to use it but I am fascinated by it it's uses and misuse

The last year and a half i have dedicated to learning the TV boxes my mxq box hates me my little guinea pig lol its a journey I'm enjoying sharing with this forum and the pleasure of meeting and getting great help from the members

It's a road trip we can help you on with the Hollywood tour
