Hi. As the title suggests, I have just set up a new Q7. Everything seems to have installed ok except when I try to access xbmc I am constantly being kicked back to the android menu. Have finally got it to stay on and am now getting script errors for vidics and Icefilms and some other addons that work ok on the other box.
I have changed the skin to Confluence and am no longer getting kicked back to the android screen. I changed it back again to the Confluence customisable mod skin and the problem returned.
There are no new updates waiting to take place apart from All mash add ons which wont update at all but after running the Droidbox wizard again there is a Dependencies not met error message for Icefilms showing. Any ideas would be appreciated but was thinking of installing the original xbmc V12 Frodo as this is on my original box and running without any real issues.

I have had the same problems with the new wizard which there is a thread running at present ie being kicked back to android home screen and we tried waiting a couple of minutes before booting Xbmc. I think you will find script errors are more down to add-on forums rather than Xbmc as they sometimes need updating or settings change. Possibly you have the mashup add-on but not the repo because you won't get updates without the source. Add mashup source then install repository zip then you should be able to run the update.

Thanks for the reply. Have had no kick out issues since I changed the skin so I think that's sorted. As for mash up, I was watching the football on it today on Buzzy sports so I think that it's partly working but not much else works. Icefilms is showing as incompatible and has no content but vidics is shown as enabled but again has no content. These all work perfectly on the original box. I also tried the meta data fix for Icefilms but it was already disabled.
Also tried to use Videomix android app and again there is no content.
The All Addons by Mash update goes to 0% for a second when clicked on and then just returns to Update available.

@Paul B - I've had similar issues on one of my devices with the customizable mod version of the Confluence skin, in terms of often getting booted back to the Android launcher homescreen. I'm still investigating what causes this to occur to some customers but not others.
Re mysteriously missing content, I'm wondering if different URLs are in use with different installs. If that might be the case, the ISP you use could cause these issues. If Virgin/BT, try following the steps here - UK ISPs Blocking Content - How To Remove - if a different ISP, try checking their online resources to see if they have a family friendly filter in place by default now.

Thanks for the reply. My ISP is BT but they (for old customers at least) offer an opt in scheme. They did send me an email recently asking if I wanted to activate parental controls which I did not activate. Have just double checked that just to make sure and it's definitely not activated. My old Q7 still works perfectly with all content available in these addons.
Have also tried clearing XBMC's data to first run several times with no difference. The confluence customizable mod still causes problems each time as it does on my old Q7.

Agreed on the new skin, for some customers it really doesn't seem to mesh very well. For those that like it, and it works well, I can see why they prefer it, I just like having all my add-ons listed in the old way.
Re Frodo/Gotham, if Frodo is behaving well, and you don't need any of the features in Gotham (AirPlay apparently actually works this time, so if you want to stream content from your iPad/iPhone screen with a compatible app, you can and a few add-ons are Gotham only) I would stick to Frodo, and wait for a new version (13.something) of Gotham or Kodi (the new name for XBMC, it will be difficult to stop calling it XBMC for me though) when it hits version 14.
Re issues with Mash Up etc, is that just with Gotham?

I've tried installing Frodo from link below and its behaving in exactly the same way with the same missing content. The Mash Up sports again works fine as do the same addons. I must admit that I'm at a loss as to why I cant this one fully functional as my original one is perfect.
I know what you mean about the new skin being a nicer layout. I wasn't keen at first but its grown on me now. Just a pity I cant use it right now.

I'm stumped. We could try matching the exact XBMC APK used for installation. If you check System Info in XBMC on your older (completely working) device, which build is listed? We can grab the APK file from that device (in the preinstall folder if it utilizes one), and copy over the XBMC userdata folder from one device to another. If you want more details on that procedure, let me know. Like wise, if that sort of tweaking is not something you're comfy with, PM me with a list of when you'll be free in up until Sunday, and I can remote into your two devices and do it for you. I'm GMT+6, so it is possible that when you're at home and free, I may be asleep, but the weekend should offer more possiblities.

Thanks Chris. Just looking at the working device now and it is showing XBMC 12.4 OUYA Git:20131121-081d9a6 (Compiled: Dec 9 2013).
Not sure if that's the right info that you're looking for but this one works fine.
Am not brilliant with software tweaks but will have a go. I didn't realise that you could remotely tweak these devices but as a last resort that would be brilliant.

Ok here's an update on the above. As a last resort I was about to reinstall XBMC directly to the Q7. Having clicked on browser I was kicked back to a message asking to Complete Action using MX Player or Browser. I selected Browser a couple of times using the Just Once button. The first couple of clicks just kicked me back to the beginning then the BT Parental controls popped up. Already highlighted were Parental Controls Activated selection and it took a couple of clicks to highlight the No parental controls button. Very odd as I had already made this selection in my BT online account and my other Q7 has been fully functional all along.
Chris you were right from the beginning.
Hopefully this may help others out that may have parental controls deactivated because it seems that BT can just block any new devices even when old ones work without problem. Thanks again for all your help.

Re an external app being launched to view videos, I'd try wiping out playercorefactory.xml
Reboot your device and don't start XBMC.
Navigate (using ES File Explorer, File Manager HD or your preferred file browser) to:
Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc/userdata/

(When you get to the org.xbmc.xbmc folder, you'll find it is probably called something else, but will still have XBMC in the name).

Rename the playercorefactory.xml file to something else (that way you can restore it if things go wrong).

Start XBMC, hopefully it'll use the XBMC builtin video capabilities then.

Re the same sort of issues, if you're referring to the issues mentioned above, which of the fixes have you tried? What was the result?
