After factory reset kodi app wont download. Its asking do i want to update my existing app which of course was erased after factory reset. When i click install after a minute i get install failed.I.ve downloaded compatible APKs ive used before from official kodi website.I downloaded 2 other apps which asked permissions then downloaded ok but box thinks im updating older version of kodi which doesnt exist now.Is there anyway to try to trick box that this is new install. I,ve done factory reset before without any problems but odd only a problem with kodi.Ive reset many times but still same problem.Could old kodi of left any trace behind i,m absolutely baffled.

Hi there, it seems that you have a cache left for that app and/or factory reset have not been performed in full. What device have you performed a factory reset on?

Honestly a re-flash might be the best way to go about this. It's like a factory reset but a step up in how thorough it is. You'd need to contact the seller or hunt around google for the firmware, as we don't have the X96's firmware on hand (only the X96 Max/Max+).

Factory resetting isn't too difficult, it's just getting a file, installing a program, then plugging in a USB.
You can see the rough process in our DroiX X3 flashing guide: How To Flash The DroiX X3's Firmware - DroiX - https://droix.co.uk/10278-2/

Thanks for link for how to flash box with usb burning tool. Yes i think finding the firmware and flashing it is my only option now. From what ive seen most x96 older versions seem to have kodi as one of the pre installed apps so im a bit suprised it wasnt pre installed on mine.Im booting libreelec and coreelec from sd card at the moment and im content with it.Infact when i watched 1080p on andoid id nearly always get freezing so id watch films in 720p but in libreelec its not freezing at all in 1080 so far just another one of those odd quirks.Fortunately these boxes are cheap and id be alot more bothered it was a good expensive one.

I mean if you'd like to write out a summary here, it'd be nice :)
Someone might be having the same issues as you in the future, so they could possibly try whatever you've tried to fix it.

I did factory reset and as apps were loading on shortcuts so obviously factory reset in progress .I went to appinstaller and clicked to download it well factory reset was in progress. The app installed and was there with my other apps but after factory reset completed it dissapeared.Anyway tried a few factory resets and installing before reset was complete and kodi came back until reset was over.So i checked SETTINGS,APPS and kodi was there NO logo just kodi in a black box. I clicked on Kodi and the settings were there.CLEAR DATA, CLEAR CACHE, UNINSTALL etc. There was some cache and data so i cleared it to 0 cache 0 data and uninstalled. I then went to download it and it came back. So basically i downloaded it as early as possible into factory reset and at least i got some settings back. I didnt think it would allow a download without factory reset being complete but it did. Dunno if i have a bit of damage on the box but its working fine so no more factory resets hopefully.Good news is i learned to boot libreelec and coreelec from sd card to.
