Internal Storage, 32GB - Organisation / Partition Sizes

How is the internal 32GB storage organised ?:

I deduce that there are at least 2 parts, one part that is inaccessible to the user that Android manages and uses it for the Android system and the App installation destination. And another part that is user accessible that the user can store files on (the part that is usually show by default in file manager apps).

What about the sizes of each part?, what are they?, can they be adjusted ?
