Happy New Year Everyone

And seeing its New Year its time to move on and dump the T8S as its never going to be updated. After all we've only been waiting around a year for the lollipop update.
Your own pushed app IPVanish wont work properly with 4.4.2 as it wont let you into the sub menus to enable auto start ... kodi 17 probably wont work and the LibraElec wouldn't update / flash on my box.
I uploaded a pic of the error and never got a reply as to why it wouldn't work.
So I have punted this box on to a colleague who wont need any of the updates or kodi 17 ... all he wants is the odd movie now and then. Its been explained it wont be updated etc and he's quite happy... for the price he got it at I'd have been happy too lol .
I'll assume Cartoon HD etc will continue to work on 4.4.2 for a while.
Onwards and upwards with a new box that has 6.0.1 and regular updates.
Droidbox was great in the beginning but if they had just been a little more honest and just said they cant get lollipop to work on the T8S I would have totally understood and updated to the T8S Plus but to just keep saying its coming soon etc and keep that up for almost a year is a joke .
I'll have to find out how to delete my profile from the forum.
I don't expect this post to stay up long but again HAPPY NEW YEAR and HAPPY STREAMING

is there anything the forum can help you with Barry?
I am running a t8 with android 4.4.2 and kodi 16.
It runs perfectly and will for a long time yet.
What particular problem are you having with your box - what doesn't work for example that is affecting all round viewing?

Why do people assume we will remove their posts? Other than swear words/affilliate links/spam I think we've had one locked down thread for a week or so over both incarnations of the forum. I think a few mobdro links get killed for safety's sake.
Anyway, to return to the original post @Minkbomb work has been continuing, nothing has got past internal testing beyond an image that didn't flash. Using the current firmware, if necessary, we see a lot of life left in our older range of models, a lot of staff still have their original models at home from a few years back.

If new releases of files from chip manufacturers allow for a test S805 dual boot firmware on the T8-S, we'll post up details here. If an Android version jump is critical to the point of losing the second operating system, there may be 3rd party Android only firmwares you can try, let me know if you're interested and we could look around (nothing officially DroidBOX sanctioned, just if you're interested in trying should your friend ever change his mind).
I'll check with IPVanish again regarding their support on the app and specifically with 4.x Android based devices.

If you actually want to delete your profile and related content, let me know and I can probably find the right option, but your input at the forum I'm sure has been appreciated by a lot in the community, it would seem a shame to leave so many threads with missing content and jumps in discussions. Feel free to PM if you'd prefer to confirm post removal in private.

I now have a new shiny T8S Plus Gamers Edition .... I sold my T8S to a work pal or you could have had it lol .

You're welcome to it. I don't care about money; my time is more precious and I can't spare time to box it up and visit a post office.
However, if you live near (Cheshire) then you can come get it and I'll gladly hand it over for free. I've even had the dodgy cable replaced for the HDD and I'll wipe off the dust. PM me.

I clean formatted mine and loaded a custom Rom.. I have updated it running lollipop and Kodi 17, I used a custom version of LibreElec and it runs at less CPU than it did stock..

It's a little boring looking but you can use a different launcher.. Based on the M8.

Workd a treat.

I got tired or waiting for an openelec update for the T8S.... The LibreElec Beta is incredibly buggy...

I understand you guys are "working" on things.. But I do get his point... Paying close to £100 for something that hasn't been updated for close to a year when other models have had numerous updates..

Updates fix bugs..

Maybe just don't put it to the back of the queue

What custom Rom did you use? also fed up waiting for a update bought a dual boot box but can't use the openelec!
