@Perce2 It still opens for me. Don't forget to correct the address so it starts with http://mega etc. etc. so http not hxxp and : before the //
Just uploaded latest firmware on my H96, the best AndroidBoxTV so far [imho]. Now i can say it works great.
Anyway, its utility BackUp&Restore, can update any file called "update.zip" taken from USB key. This would have been the best solution from my view, instead of installing that pathetic firmware uploader + .img file.

Nice one. Do you just zip the .img into "update.zip"?
Also the BackUp&Restore utility does some backup indeed (to a connected computer) but I failed to find out how exactly or where as I didn't really connect any computer yet (except one USB HDD)
Secondary to this is whether the backup can be accessed to restore the box in case it gets bricked by any future update...
btw I downloaded the FW from Mega just now and it'd got (aml_s905x2_H96MaxX2_4g_mac_wifi_20190114.img) inside - is it an updated version? (stable possibly)
Hi everyone! I have a H96 Max X2 and I bought it pre-rooted (with SuperSu I suppose) and I installed on it a TWRP Recovery so I have take a nandbackup of the current state of system, data, boot etc. Well, I have some questions before trying to update to the last firmware release, and hope someone here can anwer it:
1) Can I try to flash the update via TWRP Recovery like a Custom Rom on Android mobile phone? If yes, I have to repack the .img file to a .zip file or may I flash it as an Image over the System partition?
2) I see that there are many ways to root the new update, so the 20190114 is not pre rooted?
3) The classic backup of app and setting on Google Drive using the GMail account seems not to work, there is a solution (not very important, but can't understand why...)
4) Flashing the new update overwrite the TWRP with the standard Recovery?
