First vpn profile error connecting

Hi i have a droidbox T8s Plus V2 using libre elec. (brand new and just setting up)
I set up an account with ipvanish
I am on the last section connecting to first vpn.
But I keep getting the error message.
Error connecting to vpn something unexpected happened retry to openvpn operation and then check log.

I have emailed ipvanish (which is really slow, over 24hrs )

their response was

Thank you for contacting IPVanish Support and I am sorry for the trouble. Try changing the protocol. In your app, tap the 3 horizontal bars > settings > connection > active protocol.

I don't have the 3 horizontal bars>settings>connection>active protocol so I don't know how to do this bit.

Any help / ideas would be very welcome.

I have tried,

correcting the time (thought this might have timing issue) but no luck
change the protocol from just udp to udp and tcp - but no luck

Hi, You could try this, I got that once using PIA VPN what I did was connected to second server or how many you want to connect too press ok then back out, go to your program addons select VPN manager for OpenVPN and select change or disconnect VPN connection and choose the first connection you tried to install and it should connect.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of even trying 2nd or 3rd connections. I give it a go

They think you are using Android, it looks like. Did you follow the same process as https://droidbox.co.uk/how-to/using-a-vpn-in-libreelec/ ?
Hopefully Angela's advice above will sort it out.

Hi.

Yes I've installed it as directed just fails on first vpn. Unfortunately Angela's tip didn't work as it won't let me add a second vpn unless the first one is selected.

Hi, Don't know why it won't connect, > you have turned your ISP blocking filters off > you are connected to the internet > using right username and password > you haven't exceeded the number of devices you can put your vpn on.

Yes it worked. My router settings were set up wrong.
