how do I download a zip file to a usb stick through the t8s ?

Download a zip file through a T8-S. Can you please elaborate on what you are trying to do.
If you are trying to install a zip file via a USB stick in XBMC then off course you can do it by going into XBMC>System>Addons>Install From Zip file> Root File System> Mnt> then you will need to check the folders inside and find your file.

Sorry mate I'm new to all this , I have a repo that is in zip form on Xbmc I'm trying to move it to my openElec side as I have no address to put in manually

You can simply put the USB stick in the box,and openELEC will recognise it.

How do I get the downloaded zip file on to a USB ? Is it the same with an sd card

When you put the zip file in the USB stick and then switch to OpenElec. Then System>Addons>install from zip file> Root File System> after this you will need to check the folders

In openELEC I'd look at /var (probably /var/media) first.

To access the Android downloads folder in openelec the path is:- System/add-ons/install from zip/Home folder/media/O/Downloads.
