Bad speedtest results, upload is better than download :(

Hi, I have a Droidbox T8-S Plus box, my internet is rated as 100 mbps, if i do a speed test on my laptop which is only about 3 metres away from the router i get a downoad and upload of about the same number, roughly 78mbps, if i do a speedtest on my T8 i get a download of 22mbps and an upload of 40mbps, the box is only about 6-7 metres away from the router, if i do a speedtest on my mobile, samsung s6 at the same distance as my T8 i get a download of 50mbps and an upload of about 40mbps so the box seems to be struggling to connect at a good speed, its the face that only on the box my upload speed is actually faster than the download speed

I have done these tests a few times to make sure they are an average result as well.

Is there anything i can change or do on the settings, i can't work out why this would be so slow.

i guess i could try, although what i want to know is wht the signal is so bad when i get a decent signal if i do a speedtest of my samsung s6 phone in the same spot the droidbox is in.

has this unit got a rubbish wifi chip in it?

Wifi is not "as good" on these android boxes as on a laptop or a phone.
That said i would be inclined to run the speedtest again or use another app as 40mbps is phenonemal for upload (to give you an indication, on my phone i get 145mbps download and 12 upload).
At any rate 22mbps download is enough for anything other than true 4k. Do you really need it faster? What are you going to do with all that spare bandwidth? You only need 10mbps for hd viewing.

Also if you have line of sight of the router try the 5g signal in case there is less interference.

5G on the box? Where would you find that i have 2.5 and 5G on my router

When you set up your wireless connection on the droidbox you should be offered a choice of 2g or 5g signals if your router supports it.

5g is better over short distances

If the signal is available it will be advertised when you select wifi in android settings. You can run speedtests on 2g and 5g to see which is the strongest. 2g normally better through walls etc

tried that program and got same results.

today i bought a powerline adapter and wow, what a mega difference, i am now getting 92mbps on both down and uploads

Hi James. I may be wrong but I seriously think you are misreading those speeds. I suspected it when I saw your quote of a download speed of 40mbps which is, to put it mildly, phenomenal . Now you are quoting 92mbps.
I think you are getting 9.2mbps upload and download. Why do I say this? Read this:

"If upload broadband speeds are important to you, be sure to choose an ISP that takes its upload speed seriously. Both BT's fibre network (used by Sky, TalkTalk, EE and others as well as BT) and Virgin Media's cable offerings claim upload speeds of 10-20Mb, while ADSL is usually restricted to 512Kb, but can be 1Mb on some specialist providers."

I am posting the results of a speed test on an ipad2 which does not have a brilliant wifi chip. This was done on a 5g channel. Please pay attention to the difference in upload and download speeds. This is on a virgin fibre 200mb connection. I'm not complaining, it is fast enough for the iPad. But to illustrate, I think you may be misreading the numbers.
