I'l give you another example rather than a 1974 guitar!
Imagine my old computer can only support windows 7
and eventually windows 7 cant support any new explorers or google chrome or updated programs such as ccleaner and abdobe
That would never happen but for some reason it does with android
Eventualy exodus wont be compatible with Jarvis
There fore the t8pluss wont last for years to come

Well thats how I understand it unless Ive got the wrong end of the stick

but @Nigelar will the addons keep updating for older versions of kodi???
Can android 4.4.2 support krypton?????[/QUOTE

Krypton will not run on android 4.4.2.
Does that make any difference?
No.

Will developers maintain their Addons to run on older versions of Kodi?
Addons still run on Kodi 15 and 14.2.
Will that last forever?
Probably not.
But plenty of life left in these vintage boxes yet (Even though some people seem to regard a 2015 box as a variant of a Babbage calculating engine).

I am not interested in Krypton right-away.
If either LibreElec Kodi 16.1 or DBMC on Android 5.1.1 works smoothly on my one month old V1 box, I will be happy for at-least 2 to 3 years. Since the day I got this box, all I had is problems. My earlier WDTV, I have used for 5 years ran like a well oiled machine without any hiccups.
I can not upgrade to a new box with S9xx chipset so soon.

@Nigelar im confused of your previous comments regarding older versions of Android
quote
"I have an old t8 box running android 4.4.2 and dbmc 16.3 (jarvis 16.1)
And guess what?
It runs fine.
And will for many years yet.
Like my 1974 guitar"

Now youre saying Kodi addons wont work on older versions of android
So my Android 5 proberly will work only a year after leia comes out as the main reason I use android is for kodi or similar apps

You asked me if addons will ALWAYS be compatible with older versions of Kodi.

My answer was probably not. That is, at some distant but unknown point in the future there may be some critical change to kodi which means some addons will have to change. And they MAY not work on an older version of kodi.

Right know most addons work with at least kodi 14, 15, 16 and 17. (and even 13)
And even android 4.2.2 supports kodi 13 and up with the exception of 17.

So what i am trying to say is that there is a lot of life left yet with older machines.
There is no need to panic or worry you will not be able to run kodi addons on an android 5 machine for a long long long time yet.
