Common problem. Nothing to do with the update. Try experimenting with video hardware acceleration settings. Also try zem addon streams esp sports365. Also available in phoenix.

I can guarantee the problem has been there prior to the update. Nothing in the update affected the core processor or operating system. It is more likely to be an issue with Kodi 16 in general.

In the meantime, if adjusting hardware acceleration has not helped, try this. Go into section 2 (playback)outlined in the wiki and see if setting Adjust display refresh rate to match video helps.

I am sorry. I don't understand your last comment. The settings I am talking about are standard Kodi/dbmc settings.

Since the problem you report is not due to buffering I cannot see how those settings will make any difference.
Still nothing to stop you trying all the suggestions out and reporting back with your results so the forum community can see if it helps.

Slow motion is more likely due to the way the stream is encoded then decoded by the box to display the film or live stream, hence the suggestion to experiment with hardware acceleration and/or Display refresh rate.

Buffering, you know enough about from previous answers we've given you.

I searched previous threads here, and someone had experimented with a lower version of kodi (15.2) and found the problem went away, suggesting 16 broke something (both kodi and dbmc).
I am not suggesting you do that as downgrading may present new problems.
But it is an indication of where the problem may lie.
