ES File Explorer does not allow your HDD to be formatted to EXT4. You need OpenELEC build 20728 or lower (check OpenELEC Dev Update application in Programs). Downgrade if you have a later OpenELEC build, as the Format HDD option is missing on the latest build. You can downgrade in the Dev Update...

David is right, if you use OpenELEC you need to back out the last update and revert to Kodi build 20728 (you do not need to reverse the OTO update, just the Kodi build). The last update removes the HDD format option and the DroidboxCloud install option. I have reported this to Droidbox Support.
