Update Available For Your T8-S and T8-S Plus

The droidbox instructions for updating state you should click Wipe Data as well as Wipe Cache, but this means you lose all your apps, settings etc. Is Wipe Data really necessary? What is we don't want to lose all the data? Do we have to backup first, update OTA and then restore? My dad now owns...

HDD regularly disconnecting itself under OpenElec

I've been sent a replacement by Droidbox, but I'd already moved my hard drive to an Intel NUC, so I've offloaded the replacement Droidbox to my dad (who so far hasn't needed the size of storage I need). He's already had a few issues with the replacement, so I'll consider the Droidbox a failed...

HDD regularly disconnecting itself under OpenElec

I've only ever used the power adapter for the T8-S as provided by DB. My T8-S is well away from other heat sources and sits on a glass stand on its own shelf. It never gets too warm, so I'm not sure I believe the overheating issue. Sometimes the HDD disconnects within seconds of switching on. I...

HDD regularly disconnecting itself under OpenElec

Dave, earlier up in the thread you said "I have the T8s and this has happened to me 3 times " - you've clearly experienced this problem before. What was your solution?

    successfully removed device

I've posted about this in another thread (here https://droidboxforums.com/threads/hdd-regularly-disconnecting-itself-under-openelec.3510/) Seems that DB are fully aware of this problem, but are not offering any solutions. Does anyone have a permanent solution other than constantly uplugging and...

HDD regularly disconnecting itself under OpenElec

Based on this and the fact I have to remove my HDD every few days and reinstall it, the box is faulty and I am returning mine ASAP. I would advise anyone who wants internal storage for downloads etc to steer clear of the T8-S and one presumes the T8-S plus has the same fault. Successive firmware...

HDD regularly disconnecting itself under OpenElec

I have an ongoing problem, whereby the SATA HDD installed in my T8-S periodically disconnects itself when running under OpenElec. The only reliable method to resolve this is to unplug the T8-S and physically disconnect the HDD for a few moments. The process works for a short period of time...

    HDD no longer accessible

Tahir, I'm getting the same problem. This will be the second time in less than a month I will have had to to remove the HDD and reseat it. I don't believe for one second this is a hardware problem, looks like a software/firmware/driver issue to me. The last update was awful, I might try and...

    HDD suddenly disappeared

My HDD was installed after the last OTA update. It was all working fine until today.

    HDD suddenly disappeared

That worked! Thanks! Seemed a bit drastic - do we think the SATA connections are poor? It felt like the HDD connection was in nice and solid and it connected back up with a nice 'click'. I'd rather not have to do this often. My droidbox experience has not been that great thus far. I noticed my...

    T8s remote

The remote is crap, my play/pause button does not work (all the rest do). I use the Kodi iPhone app, it's pretty good.

    HDD suddenly disappeared

I've had a brand new 250GB SSD drive installed for about 1 week, all has been working fine until today. Movie/TV show shortcuts didn't work which tipped me off there might be a problem. Cannot see HDD in /var/media so tried reboot (no difference) and upgrading/downgrading OpenELEC version (no...

    How to install SSD drive?

ES File Explorer does not allow your HDD to be formatted to EXT4. You need OpenELEC build 20728 or lower (check OpenELEC Dev Update application in Programs). Downgrade if you have a later OpenELEC build, as the Format HDD option is missing on the latest build. You can downgrade in the Dev Update...

    Formatting SSD Drive

David is right, if you use OpenELEC you need to back out the last update and revert to Kodi build 20728 (you do not need to reverse the OTO update, just the Kodi build). The last update removes the HDD format option and the DroidboxCloud install option. I have reported this to Droidbox Support.
