Just as an update I connected my laptop to my droidbox and eHomemediaplayer was detected on my network places so I assume that the ethernet port on my droidbox is ok.

I am new to droidbox also but I have been using the Explorer app to play some media which is on a flash drive. There is also ES file explorer which may help you. Not sure if thats helpful but I haven`t had time to really explore all the apps fully yet.

Thanks I have tried that and it says ethernet is enabled. All it gives is a MAC address but no IP address etc. Does anybody know where I can obtain them as I see an option to use static IP?
