Hello there. I don’t know what type of max box I have but me remote stopped working. It was only used for turning on the box and I used a usb keyboard for the rest. Whenever I plug in the box it starts off. I would not like to buy a new remote but if that’s the only solution then I must. I have changed the batteries on the remote but it doesn’t work. I will try to upload pictures later. It isn’t working right now.
Might be worth checking if your TV has a CEC option you can turn on. If it does, switch it on, turn your TV to the correct HDMI input, then try turning your TV off, then on. This relies on your Android box supporting CEC and it being on already.
Beyond that, if you could resurrect the original remote control for just a few button presses (check if the battery contacts are clean of rust/chemicals, check circuit board for any blown capacitors/resistors etc.), then you could buy a cheap universal infrared remote control that can learn new codes, and teach it via the original remote control.
