factory rest

I have been trying to do a factory reset on my box
i have tried a tooth pick in the av port but the box is just starting up as normal and i have gone into setting and tried to reset the box through there but it just restarts and nothing changed

Has anyone got any other ideas

If you've tried accessing the Recovery Menu with no joy, using the matchstick, try the matchstick and an SD card method.

Don't forget to keep the match held in far enough so that you can hear/feel a slight click, and not let get of the button until the booting up process has altered from its norm.
