Does the T8 SE model have a hard drive installable bay, like the previous models did (underneath). If not then does any one know for what reason not?

Are there any other features removed/reduced from this model compared to the previous models?

What is the SE stand for in the models name?, is it Special Edition, if so then is it Special due to extra features or due to less features (reduced cost)?

It is based on the original T8 model from 3+ years ago. The SE stands for Second Edition as it is the successor to the T8.

So then what is T8-S (Version 1 and Version 2) and the T8-S plus (Version 1 and Version 2) based on , and what are they successors to ?.

They are successors to the t8 series. Prior to that it was the M8 series, apes and amoeba.

T8 - First of the series. no internal HDD space. The v1 and v2 were minor revisions as far as I know, it was before I worked for DroidBOX
T8 Mini - Physically smaller version of T8 series, like the other T8 it has no space for internal HDD. Info at https://droidbox.co.uk/blog/droidbox-t8-mini-unboxing-and-demo/
T8 SE - Latest model in T8 series, no internal HDD space. Info at https://droidbox.co.uk/blog/droidbox-t8-se-unboxing-and-demo/

T8-S - First of the series. Had space for internal HDD. There may have been v1, v2 etc, can't remember off hand.
T8-S Plus v1 - Successor to the T8-S and had internal HDD space.
T8-S Plus Gamer's Edition - Based on T8-S Plus v1 with a 128GB SSD inside. A review can be read at https://droidbox.co.uk/blog/t8-s-plus-gamers-edition-review/
T8-S Plus v2 - Info at https://droidbox.co.uk/blog/droidbox-t8-s-plus-v2-unboxing-demo/

So to sum up, T8 series has no internal HDD space, T8-S series has internal HDD space.

The release history is something along the lines of:

T8
T8-S
T8-S Plus v1
T8-S Plus Gamer's Edition
T8 Mini
T8-S Plus v2
T8 SE

If the latest version of Android is required on a DroidBox, It is Android 7.x on the T8 SE, or the earlier Android 6.x on the T8 Mini (Both on the older T8 series models). Why was the newer T8-S line of models (the series with the Internal Hard Disk Drive bay) not continued with updated models with later Android versions (than the latest model, the T8-S Plus Version 2, with Android 6.x) ?.

Updates to the next Android version (i.e. Android 5 to 6) are dependant on the processor manufacturer making available the necessary development kits for the version of Android. If they make them available we can release an update, for example we updated the T8 Mini from Android 5 to 6.
