Do I have to set the correct key assignment for each individual game?

Hi! I have a question: I would like to buy a "Waveshare PI43" (with RetroPie). For this I would first have to save the RetroPie image on the internal memory card. But if I then e.g. storing hundreds of ROMs on the card, do I have to set the correct key assignment for each individual game? Or is it enough to set the correct key assignment only once for a single game, and then the correct key assignments are also automatically assigned and set for all other installed games?

We sell our own RetroPie systems at https://droix.net/collections/retro-gaming-consoles/products/droix-s-line-gaming-system which come preconfigured for the controllers we include. I can not comment on other such prebuilt systems but generally you would just need to configure the controller once in the main menu and it should work.
