Hello.
I have a CK1 a little over 3 years old. Been generally very happy with it. Noticed some strange behaviour on the monitor maybe 1-2 years ago, but ignored it. The symptoms have been getting worse and more frequent recently.
I am running Win11 Pro on an i7 with 16GB RAM. I do *NOT* play what most people would call "intense" games. The most graphics intensive I play is Microsoft Jigsaw, and Microsoft Solitaire. During the "game" occasionally the monitor would "blank" out (black screen) but come back within a few seconds. Happens mostly after playing for a while. As you move jigsaw pieces around the graphics calcs needed are a bit "intense" ... so it feels like the display adapter -- which I assume is just an onboard chip on the mainboard -- is getting over-worked and it shuts off thermally for a few seconds.
A few weeks ago I was unable to get *ANY* display output -- the monitor would report "No Signal". After extensive debugging I found that the BIOS screen is being displayed, but once it boots into the Windows environment, no display. By stroke of luck a few days later the display was back, so I installed AnyDesk. A few days ago, when I was not getting a signal I logged in remotely and the Win11 did not show an available display adapter. That's where I ended my investigation and am now posting here.
I seem to be able to consistently get the HDMI output if I let the CK1 "rest" (power-off) overnight, but not always.
My questions:
Q1: I have been using HDMI. Would it help to try Display Port, or is that not an independent channel ?
Q2: Can the problem be repaired ? ( I am quite sure it's a hardware problem, so any advice about display adapters is unlikely to work. )

Thanks for any advice.
Cheers,

Hey,
Switching from HDMI to DisplayPort might help diagnose the issue, but it's unlikely to solve the underlying problem. DisplayPort is a separate interface, but both HDMI and DisplayPort typically connect to the same graphics processor. If the issue is with the graphics chip itself, changing the interface probably won't resolve it.
However, trying DisplayPort could be worthwhile for two reasons:
  1. It eliminates the possibility of a faulty HDMI port or cable.
  2. DisplayPort generally offers higher bandwidth and might be more stable in some cases
In the case of still an issue, Please consider recording a short video explaining the details of the issue and contact us at [email protected] and we will be happy to assist.

Thanks for your response. Monday or Tuesday I will purchase a DisplayPort cable and continue debugging this issue. I will report back and/or take you up on the offer to email support. Happy to help solve an issue which improves the product :)
