It will depend on a version of spmc which dbmc is built on. Another person asked this question a day or so ago and I suggested he check what version spmc is up to (on the sempermax website) and it is still on 16.6.

SPMC v16.6 have updated to fork from kodi v17, but he removed a lot of the code and left most of the 4K playback fixes.

Why do you think that?
As i said above, since there is no spmc 17 yet, there isnt a dbmc 17.

I wouldn't bother. It's super S L O W. Personally i don't think android can cope with it. It looks nice but offers nothing functionally that 16 didn't.

I'm talking about installing 17 as well as DBMC as there is no 17 version of DBMC and tbh i hope there never is. It runs great on a PC but android just doesn't have the oomph for it.

DroidBox is working on an OTA firmware update for the T8-S Plus and hope to have it in the next few weeks after we have finished testing it. In the meantime you can download Kodi 17 from the Google Play Store. Also, please see our Kodi 17 FAQ before upgrading https://droidbox.co.uk/blog/the-kodi-17-faq/.

LibreELEC (Krypton) 8.0.0 was just release on February 24, 2017

Again Expect DroidBox to up date that interface within the next 4 week or so.

DBMC (DroidBOX® Media Centre) is based on SPMC Semper Media Center by Koying former Kodi Android maintainer.

Therefore any enhancements or upgrades to the DBMC (DroidBOX® Media Centre) will have to wait until after Koying updates SPMC to fall more in line with Kodi 17.
