Are there any planned firmware updates for the Gpd play on planned?

It will probably depend on the firmware(s) released by GPD, I imagine they would be used as a starting point for any DroidBOX branded updates in the future. http://boards.dingoonity.org/gpd-android-devices/ is probably worth a watch, there is a non-official ROM at http://boards.dingoonity.org/gpd-android-devices/(rom)-legacyrom-kitkat-for-gpd-xd/ for example.
