Hi, I am considering buying a T8 Mini which would be the third DroidBox in the house! I am wondering if someone would be good enough to tell me how long T8 Mini takes to boot up?
(The T8S takes a long time to boot to Android, while the MXQ Pro is super fast..)
OK, understood. So they just need to scan the last three digits of the IP. So I could it like 100 for the ground floor and 200 for the upstairs. Nice, will try this out.
Wondering if its possible to change the name that appears in the DroidBox share client. I have two DroidBoxes and some family members have a tough time figuring out DroidBox-7248 is the living room! Would be awsome to simply call it "Living Room"
Ah, thanks, that might be useful.. really I was thinking about adding Android user, so the kids can have iPlayer for kids and YouTube for kids on their own desktop (as it were). Something more like...
I had a similar problem. The box would work okay for a few minutes then become extremely laggy and then appear to freeze. Managed to solve it by turning off the WiFi and using a Homeplug instead and now it performs nicely.
>> I've got one power supply spliced up here to check current consumption for different devices and hard drives.
Lol, some lucky people get to have all the fun :)
Backing up the rooted status of the T8-S will be sufficient, I can always rebuild apps and files from other backups. I am quite comfortable with e.g. reflashing the firmware if that is what it takes. Just looking to go this route because some TV apps (notable All 4) actively forbid rooted devices.
Hi, I moved house and all the transformers got mixed up. Can some kind soul confirm this is the T8-S power supply?
It says 5vDC 3000mA, unbroken line on top and dashed line underneath. The T8S is marked with 5vDC, 3A but two unbroken lines (which doesnt make sense to me)
Yep, thanks for that. I will use if I move to rsync. I'm actually using a Windows program called SyncBack.
Sadly the archive bit did not work either. Eventually, I figured out the problem was in the initial copy, where I plugged the FAT disk into the USB port and copied using ES File Explorer...
I am looking to buy a second DroidBox for the bedroom. Does anyone know whether any of the DroidBox models can be used an an APTx sink? This would be used for some radio apps which don't allowing casting.
(I read online somewhere that it would be available with Lollipop)

Yes it is all up to date..one of the first things I tried :) . I suspect OpenElec is reacting adversely to the TV standby signal. It's only a minor issue really, since I actually use Android most of the time.
I suspect it would be possible to fix the issue by changing some config file some...
Lol, did some Googling...seems managing back ups arent as simple as comparing the file modification time. Happily I think I can manage with the archive bit.
Here's a weird thing I'd appreciate some help with...I keep my music on a master hard disk and use a back up program to copy from the master onto the DroidBox over Samba.
However, I am finding that after the DroidBox is rebooted the file modification times are earlier than before, even though...
I figured it out...it is happening when I turn my TV to standby with the remote control and leave DroidBox on (I was copying my music collection to the Box using Samba)
It seems to only happen with OpenElec. Android seems stable, though I haven't really tested it to any level of certainty.
