@8bitDev: I'm sorry, but that really isn't good enough ...
Firstly, my iMX6 Droidbox behaves impeccably when connected in exactly the same way to exactly the same TV:
a) When it's "HDMI auto-output mode - Auto-match best TV resolution" is ON, it correctly recognises 1080p @ 60Hz and sets its...
I said: "Whatever the resolution or refresh rate ..." Which means ... I have tried them all - including, therefore, all those that you suggested and more.
Whatever the resolution or refresh rate manually set at time of shut-down, on reboot the droidbox static logo is displayed at that setting but, just before the "spheroid" animation starts, the resolution always resets to 720p @ 60Hz ... and this setting persists after boot is complete. In other...
Not the best video in the world but the best I could do with a camera and, I think, shows clearly enough what I have been trying to describe.
Note:
1. The top-left corner of the TV displays the resolution it's receiving from the T8 each time it changes.
2. The T8's "HDMI auto-detection" sets...
Sorry for my absence ... I seem to have lost my email notifications for new messages here and assumed that the thread had died for lack of interest! My mistake.
SS: We could certainly try a remote control session if you think it would help but, to be honest, I doubt it will as I'm pretty sure...
DS: Yes, I've changed both HDMI cable and HDMI slot - first thing I tried! Interesting that your box is not directly connected to a TV, though ... perhaps that's why you don't have the same problem as colrob1 and I. For interest, what resolution do you get if you set HDMI auto-detection ON?
Not annoyed ... but definitely frustrated.
I suppose the bottom line is that what I am trying to do is to:
a) Discover if what appears to be a bug in the firmware of my box can be reproduced by others.
b) If so, to report it as a confirmed bug
c) To offer a clue to where it's correction might...
Perhaps I should make it plain that I am an experienced Android developer and very familiar with how to set up an Android box and I think it's pretty clear from my first post that I already know how to disable HDMI auto-detection and to set the HDMI Output Mode Setting. I am not therefore...
Thanks for your reply but please read mine again ... that's clearly what I describe having done! Nevertheless, as you say, it SHOULD stay like that until you change it - even after a reboot - but it doesn't!
I have recently 'migrated' from an IMX6 to a T8 - both connected to the same (Panasonic) TV which, conveniently, has an on-screen display showing it's input resolution & refresh rate whenever they change.
The IMX6 display is set to 'auto-detect best TV resolution', detects 1080p @60Hz and the TV...
